Young girls and Hair Removal
Young girls focus more on school, their friends and family than their hair. For them hair is not really a big issue, until they reach a certain age when they want to appear older. This age is often their teenage years when they try to make themselves appear older by doing all sorts of things which they otherwise wouldn’t do.
Putting on tons of make-up and wearing revealing clothing is their first step to looking and feeling like an adult. Girls try to do everything to give the impression that they are mature.
Shaving is a passage way to being considered a woman. Although there is no certain age when girls are recommended to shave, it mostly depends on their parents and their beliefs. A good number of girls start shaving before they reach middle school. A few more begin in when they enter middle school.
Seeing girls their own age talking about shaving their legs makes them feel eager to shave. Having smooth legs means they can show off their legs, like other girls, and not feel uncomfortable because their legs aren’t shaved. For some young girls, their hair is a big problem. Bullying has become an enormous problem in the U.S. Young girls deal with being teased about their appearance on a daily basis. Being hairy does not help someone’s self-esteem. This is why girls consider shaving and waxing any excessive hair.
Having really bushy eyebrows, even a unibrow, can hurt the way a girl looks at herself, which is why girls turn to hair removal techniques to remove hair. Tweezing is the first technique girls look to because it is inexpensive and is the simplest thing they can do themselves. Later on they can discuss with their parents about trying waxing.
Waxing is much faster than tweezing and is not time consuming. But girls must be cautious that they don’t have a reaction to the wax the first time they try it. A parent must be aware that their daughter might become addicted, so to speak, to waxing and will want to come every two to three weeks.
The eyebrow area is just the first start. Girls can think of other areas where they want to wax. For example, their upper lip might be their next step or their chin and then maybe her legs and armpit. From then on girls can become obsessive with waxing.
The cost of waxing adds up when girls are going twice a month, every year. After waxing for a few years girls can then get informed about other removal techniques, such as laser. Laser is an alternative technique that has better long-term results than waxing. But young girls should first do some research on laser hair removal and then consult with their parents and physician.
Parents can talk to their daughter about waiting until their older to get the laser treatment. Or they can surprise their girls with a treatment for receiving excellent grades or as a graduation present. Either way girls should stick to tweezing or waxing for the time being and take their time growing up.
